BANGKOK, 22 November 2016 (NNT) - Members of the Thai Parliament organized an oath taking ceremony this morning, pledging their loyalty to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
National Legislative Assembly (NLA) President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai led members of the NLA, the National Reform Steering Assembly, the Constitution Drafting Commission, the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, and the Secretariat of the Senate in an oath taking ceremony before the portrait of King Bhumibol, the 9th monarch of the Chakri Dynasty.
The event was held not only to commemorate the late King and but also to mark his 89th birthday anniversary on December 5th this year. The NLA President and the others pledged their loyalty to every monarch of the Chakri Dynasty until the last day of their lives.
They vowed to do their best to promote sustainable development, work in harmony to achieve national reform, follow the late King’s advice, and restore democracy in the nation. After the ceremony, they chanted the royal anthem.
