The Thai and Lao Ministries of Science and Technology have jointly launched a science exhibition in Vientiane in celebration of Lao’s National Children’s Day.

The science exhibition is taking place at the National University of Laos. Among the organizers are the National Science and Technology Development Agency, the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation.

The Lao Science and Technology Minister, Prof. Boviengkham Vongdara, and his Thai counterpart Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by other high-ranking government officials from both countries.

According to Dr. Pichet, the annual Thai-Lao science exhibition is in its second year. The activity is part of the bilateral cooperation to strengthen science and technology development between the two countries.

The Thai and Lao governments in 2014 signed an agreement to promote 14 scientific and academic areas, such as biotechnology, astronomy and water resource management.

In Laos, National Children’s Day is celebrated on June 1 each year. The science exhibition will continue until June 3.
