Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his condolences to the family of former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa who passed away on Saturday morning.

Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, government spokesperson, said Gen Prayut was saddened by the news of the passing away of the 21st prime minister of Thailand, Mr Banharn Silpa-archa.

Gen Prayut believes that Mr Banharn will always be remembered and revered among politicians and the public.

Mr Banharn passed away at the age of 83 at Siriraj Piyamaharajkarun Hospital on Saturday morning, two days after he was admitted to the hospital due to an asthma attack.

Mr Banhan was the prime minister of Thailand from 1995 to 1996 and held different cabinet posts in several governments. He was born on August 19th, 1932 in Suphanburi to a Chinese merchant family. He was married to Jamsai Silpa-archa and together they have three children.
