The Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson has disclosed that the government’s “Shopping for the Nation” campaign yielded highly satisfactory results with over 600,000 citizens taking advantage of the project.

PM’s Office Spokesperson Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd has revealed that the “Shopping for the Nation” campaign carried out at the end of last year, which allowed shoppers to use their purchases for tax deductions up to 15,000 baht, was highly successful, stimulating consumption and the overall economy. He noted it was especially beneficial in creating a positive atmosphere among the public.

The Revenue Department reported that as of March 21, 630,581 tax payers used 5.756 billion baht worth of purchases to request deductions. It is expected eligible citizens still remain that have yet to submit their requests for deduction. Online filings have been extended to April 8 of this year.

Maj Gen Sansern said that due to the positive reception of the campaign, the government may consider similar policies in the future. He urged retailers to register themselves as needed to be able to benefit from such policies, assuring that measures have been taken to make the process convenient.
