His Excellency Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, met with Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha to strengthen relations between the two countries.
The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) had previously invited Mr. Andreichenko for an official visit to Thailand. Deputy Government Spokesperson Maj Gen Weerachon Sukhontapatipak, the Prime Minister and the House Chairman had an opportunity to discuss future cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture, research and development.
Gen Prayut urged Belarusian entrepreneurs, who accompanied the House Chairman on this trip, to invest in Thailand. Mr. Andreichenko also views Thailand as a major ASEAN partner nation and will welcome Thai investors to Belarus. The Prime Minister also said that Thailand may need tractors and other machinery from Belarus to industrialize the country's Special Economic Zones.
The two nations have enjoyed diplomatic relations for over 24 years. Thailand expressed support for the establishment of Honorary Consuls of the Republic of Belarus in the Kingdom. The House Chairman's visit will come to an end tomorrow.
