Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai attended the ASEAN Foreign Minister’s Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Vientiane, Laos, from 26 – 27 February 2016. The meeting was held under the theme of “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community.”

The meeting agreed to establish ASEAN with people as the center, encourage them to be more enthusiastic about ASEAN and increase their role in the community. The Thai minister emphasized the principles to encourage participation of all sectors, never leave anyone behind and decrease the development gap.

The meeting also assigned Thailand to be a coordinator between ASEAN and relevant organizations under the UN on the discussions about the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals in a regional level.

Thailand proposed that ASEAN members work together to achieve the same standpoint before they joined in meetings with ASEAN’s dialogue partners.

Thailand, as ASEAN's coordinator between ASEAN and the EU, informed the meeting of the progress of the ASEAN – EU Ministerial Meeting (AEMM) and consulted the meeting about the country’s hosting of the AEMM at the end of this year.
