Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has presided over the Thai-Chinese Business Forum 2015.
The forum was co-organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Thailand and China.
During his speech, Deputy PM Somkid has voiced his satisfaction with the participation of Chinese businessmen led by visiting State Councilor Wang Yong and also restated the government’s intention to forge economic ties with China.
The event is expected to enable Thai and Chinese business operators to discuss future trade cooperation and exchange ideas about the economic trend. Trade between Thailand and China has expanded continuously since 2005 and the value has reached 60 billion dollars so far.
China is the fourth biggest foreign investor in Thailand following Japan, Singapore and Indonesia. Over the past 10 months, China invested in 45 projects worth over 12 billion baht in Thailand. Most of its investments include waste-derived power, tire, electrical appliances, machine and metal parts industries.
