BANGKOK, 12th March 2017 (NNT) – The Ministry of Education will focus on improving Thai students’ ability to adjust to today’s world, which is the driver behind the success of the nation.

Chairing the inauguration of the “Think Beyond” exhibition, Education Minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin said students must be flexible and adjust themselves to whatever is required of them to be successful in a constantly developing world.

The minister noted that English, science, maths, and a reading habit are all very useful in life.

According to a survey conducted last year in 70 countries, Thai students ranked 55 in science and maths, said Teerakiat, adding that there is an urgent need for the country to introduce education reform with an emphasis on human resource development. He said the ministry will seek the cooperation of the private sector in an overhaul of Thai education.

The minister’s notion was echoed by Arisara Thanapakit, the director of an English school, who stressed the need for Thai students to be flexible, saying success will come to those who can adjust and develop their skills in a highly competitive society.
