BANGKOK, 23rd January 2017 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has sent a congratulatory message to Donald J. Trump upon his inauguration as the 45th President of the United States.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand has advised the Thai community, that Gen Prayut sent a letter on behalf of the Kingdom of Thailand and its citizens, congratulating the newly sworn-in President of the United States, Donald Trump. The letter was sent on January 20th.

Thailand and the United States share a long history of friendship and cordial relations stretching back 183 years. Thailand was the first ally of the United States in Asia and their alliance has formed a bedrock of peace, stability, and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific. Their long standing ties are preserved and propelled by mutual interests in various areas, including economics, security, and social and regional cooperation.
