BANGKOK, 30 August 2016 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has instructed the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Public Health to closely monitor and control a possible outbreak of the Zika virus and called on the public to not panic.

The premier said he had instructed the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Public Health to closely monitor, control and conduct surveillance over the possible transmission of the Zika virus as well as take intensive measures against it.

He called on the public to not panic as Thailand has been recognized among the ASEAN community for its effective controls of disease outbreaks, he said.
