The Minister of Labor is seeking to upgrade Thailand's ranking on the Trafficking In Person’s (TIP) Report with the use of law enforcement and encouraging of migrant workers to get legally employed.
Labor Minister Sirichai Ditthakul has instructed all ministry units to take steps to upgrade Thailand’s ranking on the United States' TIP Report by enforcing the law and encouraging the migrant workers to get legally employed. The ministry is to work with NGOs to create synergy in assisting the migrant workers.
Meanwhile, the centers for migrant worker admission and repatriation have been planned to open in the border provinces of Tak, Nong Khai and Sra Kaeo.
The Ministry of Labor will submit the proposal for the setting up of those centers to the cabinet on July 12. If approved, they can operate within August 1, 2016.
