BANGKOK, 8 May 2017 (NNT) – Buddhists have been seen engaging in religious activities such as circumambulation of Buddha relics in the lead up to Vesak Day.
Buddhism Week activities at Rajamangala Stadium’s Indoor Stadium have attracted large crowds of faithful. Many seen taking part in the lead up to Vesak Day joined in a pronouncement of their faith and adherence to the ways of the Lord Buddha. They also took part in circumambulation of a Buddha relic transported to the grounds by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration for the occasion.
Bangkapi District Director Aphirom Chantarakul said activities have been running smoothly and have received strong feedback. Attendants have mostly lauded His Majesty the King for allowing a sacred relic to be put on public display.
The event, which also features exhibitions on Buddhism for public viewing, will run until this May 10 when a major alms giving ceremony will take place.
