เมื่อวันที่ 26 พฤษภาคม 2559  นางสาวพรพิมล สุคันธวณิช รักษาราชการแทนกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมิองเจนไน ในฐานะผู้แทนสถานกงสุลใหญ่และผู้แทนกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้มอบเงินบริจาคจำนวน 100,000 บาท ให้แก่ Prof.Dr. G. Mishra คณบดีคณะปรัชญา มหาวิทยาลัยมัทราชและหัวหน้า Center of Buddhist Studies เพื่อใช้เป็นทุนในการซ่อมแซมสถานที่ทางพุทธศาสนาและจัดทำป้ายข้อมูลและข้อมูลพุทธสถานโบราณ เพื่อให้ความรู้แก่ประชาชนถึงความสำคัญของพุทธสถานและพระพุทธรูปโบราณ ซึ่งมีความเก่าแก่มากกว่า 2,000 ปี โดยการมอบเงินบริจาคดังกล่าวจัดขึ้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยมัทราส

สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ จะร่วมกับมหาวิทยาลัยมัทราส และ Center of Buddhist Studies จะดำเนินการโครงการฯ ซ่อมแซมสถานที่ทางพุทธศาสนาและจัดทำป้ายข้อมูลและข้อมูลพุทธสถานโบราณที่โรงเรียน Govt. C.M. Subbaraya Mudaliyar Higher Secondary School และสถานที่เก็บรักษาพระพุทธรูปโบราณและสถานที่ปฏิบัติธรรม The Arulmigu Buddar Alayam และจัดการสัมมนาวิชาการเกี่ยวกับพระพุทธศาสนาในอินเดียตอนใต้เพื่อใช้ประโยชน์จากองค์ความรู้มาจัดทำป้ายข้อมูลสถานที่ต่อไป

On 26 May 2016, Ms. Pornpimol Sugandhavanija, Acting Consul-General, as the representative of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chennai and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, donated the funds of 100,000 Thai bahts to Prof. Dr. G. Mishra, Dean of Philosophy Faculties of University of Madras to finance the projects of University of Madras and the Center of Buddhist Studies to study deeply on the history of Buddhism in Southern India and to renovate and restore the Buddhism-related monastic sites/remains and ancient Buddha statutes as well as to make the inscription providing the notes on the history and significance of the Buddhism-related sites/remains and the Buddha statues, with the age of more than 2,000 years old, in Tamil Nadu State.

The support from the Royal Thai Consulate-General will represent the goodwill from the people and the Government of Thailand to the people and the Government of India as we consider that this project will not only be beneficial to the enhancement of knowledge on Buddhism and the history of the Republic of India, but also to the preservation of great historic and religious heritages of Buddhism that are most valuable for all Buddhists and the people around the world.   

The funds that the Royal Thai Consulate-General will finance the project of the University and the Center of Buddhist Studies will go to (1) the Study and Seminar on Buddhism in Southern India (2)  the Renovation/Restoration of Buddhism-related monastic sites and ancient Buddha statue & making inscription at the Govt. C.M. Subbaraya Mudaliya Higher Secondary School in Kanchipuram and (3) the Renovation/Restoration of Buddhism-related monastic sites & making inscription at the Arulmigu Buddar Alayam, in Kanchipuram, built by Thai student monks.
