สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองเจนไน จัดพิธีจุดเทียนชัยมงคลและงานเฉลิมพระเกียรติพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว เนื่องในโอกาสมหามงคลเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา ๘๘ พรรษา

เมื่อวันที่ ๒๑ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๘ สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองเจนไน ได้จัดพิธีจุดเทียนชัยมงคล และงานเฉลิมพระเกียรติเนื่องในวโรกาสมหามงคลเฉลิมพระชนมพรรษา ๘๘ พรรษา ของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวและงานวันชาติไทย ณ ห้อง Rajandra Hall โรงแรม ITC Grand Chola เมืองเจนไน โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมงานประมาณ ๓๗๐ คน ได้แก่ คณะทูตานุทูต ข้าราชการ ชุมชนชาวไทย นักเรียน นักศึกษาไทย นักธุรกิจระดับสูงของเมืองเจนไนและรัฐทางตอนใต้ของอินเดีย และหน่วยงานทีมประเทศไทย  ทั้งนี้ ได้รับเกียรติจากบุตรชาย Prince of Arcot  ร่วมเป็นแขกเกียรติยศของงาน

นางสาวพรพิมล สุคันธวณิช รองกงสุลใหญ่ ผู้รักษาราชการแทนกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองเจนไน ได้นำชุมชนไทยกล่าวนำถวายราชสดุดี และจุดเทียนชัยถวายพระพร  โดยชุมชนไทยได้ร่วมร้องเพลงสรรเสริญพระบารมี เพลงสดุดีมหาราชา เพลงพ่อของแผ่นดิน จากนั้น ระหว่างการจัดงานเลี้ยงรับรอง ผู้รักษาราชการแทนกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้กล่าวเฉลิมพระเกียรติคุณและพระมหากรุณาธิคุณของพระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัว ว่าทรงได้อุทิศพระวรกายและพระวิริยะอุตสาหะปฏิบัติพระราชกรณียกิจเพื่อประโยชน์สุขของประชาชนและการพัฒนาประเทศ  ทรงเป็นศูนย์รวมดวงใจของคนทั้งชาติ และประชาชนไทยได้น้อมนำหลักปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงมาเป็นเสาหลักในการดำเนินชีวิตในทุกระดับ  ในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไทยกับสาธารณอินเดีย สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้เดินตามรอยพระราชดำรัส โดยเน้นคนเป็นหลักในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือระหว่างกัน โดยเฉพาะโครงการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ การแลกเปลี่ยนบุคคลากรและการให้ทุนการศึกษา  และยินดีสนับสนุนความร่วมมือในทุกสาขากับสาธารณรัฐอินเดีย

นอกจากนี้ สถานกงสุลใหญ่ฯ ได้นำคณะละครนาฏยศาลาหุ่นละครเล็ก (โจ หลุยส์) มาแสดงหุ่นละครเล็ก ซึ่งได้รับความสนใจและสร้างความประทับใจให้กับแขกผู้มีเกียรติเป็นอย่างมาก

On 21 December 2015 at 18:00 hrs., Ms. Pornpimol Sugandhavanija, Deputy Consul-General, Acting Consul-General, led the Consulate’s officials and staffs, members of Team Thailand and Thai communities in Chennai and other cities in Southern States, to pay homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand on the occasion of the 88^th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 5 December 2015.  There were more than 70 people attending a candle-lit ceremony at the Rajendra Hall, ITC Grand Chola Hotel, Chennai.

Later, on the same day at 19:00 hrs, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chennai hosted a reception to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 88^th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the National Day of Thailand at the ITC Grand Chola hotel. The event was presided over by Ms. Pornpimol Sugandhavanija, Acting Consul-General, with the presence of son of Prince of Arcot, as the guest of honour. The event was attended by approximately 370 people which included representatives from the Tamil Nadu state government, private sector, press, academics, Diplomatic corps accredited in Chennai and Thais residing in Ankara.

During the official ceremony, Acting Consul-General Sugandhavanija delivered a speech appraising His Majesty’s devotion for 69 years  for the development of Thailand and as Father and Soul of the Nation, His Majesty introduced the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and taught Thai people to learn about moderation and middle path. His Majesty’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy has been as the light guiding the way for Thai people to pass over difficulties in many periods of time The Royal Thai Government and the Consulate-General adopted his Sufficiency Economy Philosophy by placing “people” at the center  for sustainable development policies. The Royal Thai Consulate-General focuses on enhancing the collaboration in exchanging the visits among peoples and trade & investment missions as well as technical exchange program and scholarship program. She also expressed her hope for the continuation of the close, progressive and longstanding Thai -India relations during the present reform in Thailand. In the end, Ms. Sugandhavanija proposed a toast to humbly wish His the King of Thailand and Republic of India every blessing.

In this year's National Day reception, the Royal Thai Consulate-General has brought the world class Natayasala Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre (Joe Louis) who won awards from the World Festival of Puppet Art held in Prague, the Czech Republic, twice to perform Thai puppet arts.  The show has successfully fascinated the audience.
