เมื่อวันที่ ๒๓-๒๕ กันยายน ๒๕๕๘ สถานกงสุลใหญ่ ณ เมืองเจนไนได้ดำเนินโครงการนำคณะผู้สื่อข่าวอินเดียเยือนไทย โดยนางสาวพรพิมล สุคันธวณิช รองกงสุลใหญ่ ได้นำคณะผู้สื่อข่าวนิตยสารไลฟ์สไตล์ของอินเดีย ได้แก่ นาง Pricilla Stephan ตำแหน่ง Reporter จากนิตยสาร Health and Beauty และ Dr. Martha Grisilda Renga Swamy ตำแหน่ง Special Editor จากนิตยสาร Valar Thozhil Magazine   เยือนประเทศไทย โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้สื่อมวลชนอินเดียได้รับความรู้ความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับประเทศไทยมากขึ้น และสามารถนำเสนอบทความเกี่ยวกับศักยภาพของประเทศไทย

ในการเดินทางเยือนประเทศไทยครั้งนี้ สื่อมวลชนอินเดียทั้งสองได้เข้าร่วมงาน World Spa & Well being Convention (WSWC 2015) และเข้าร่วมพิธีเปิดงาน Beyond Beauty ASEAN 2015  รวมทั้งได้สัมภาษณ์รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมของไทย  นอกจากนี้ สื่อมวลชนยังได้มีโอกาสเยี่ยมชมโรงเรียนแพทย์แผนโบราณวัดพระเชตุพนฯ (วัดโพธิ์) ซึ่งมีชื่อเสียงและได้รับการยอมรับทั้งภายในและต่างประเทศด้านการนวดแผนไทย และ Opium Spa ซึ่งเป็นสปาที่มีชื่อเสียงของไทย พร้อมทั้งได้เยือนแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่สำคัญของกรุงเทพมหานคร

การเดินทางมาเยือนครั้งนี้ ทำให้ผู้สื่อข่าวทั้งสองได้มีโอกาสเรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับประเทศไทย ศักยภาพของประเทศไทยในด้านการบริการและธุรกิจสปา และความงาม ตลอดจนได้มีโอกาสที่จะหารือกับผู้ประกอบการธุรกิจด้านสปาและความงามของไทย ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการเผยแพร่ข้อมูลให้กับชาวอินเดียและภาคธุรกิจของอินเดียได้รับทราบ และแสวงหาแนวทางในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจร่วมกันต่อไป

On 23-25 September 2018, Ms. Pornpimol Sugandhavanija, Deputy Consul-General, has led two reporters from Indian lifestyle magazines namely Ms. Pricilla Stephan, Reporter of Health and Beauty and Dr. Martha Grisilda Renga Swamy, Special Editor of Valar Thozhil Magazine, to visit Thailand. The visit to Thailand is part of the “Reporter Visit to Thailand Program" initiated by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chennai, with an aim to allow the reporters to know more about Thailand.

During the visit to Bangkok, the two reporters had the opportunity to participate in World Spa & Well being Convention (WSWC 2015), attend the opening ceremony of Beyond Beauty ASEAN 2015 and interview the Minister of Industry of Thailand. Moreover, they visited the tourist attractions  as well as Thai Traditional Medical School (Wat Pho) which is very famous both in Thailand and abroad on Thai traditional massage and the Opium Spa, the famous spa in Bangkok.

From the trip, the two reporters learnt more about Thailand and the country’s potential in the business of Spa and beauty and had chance to talk and discuss with the Thai entrepreneurs in the spa and beauty business which was beneficial for them to disseminate the information to Indian people and business circles. This will help enhance the economic cooperation with Thailand in the future.
