On 16 September 2025, Mr. Racha Aribarg, Consul-General of Thailand in Chennai, led a delegation from Thailand's National Innovation Agency (NIA) and a group of Thai startups on a study visit to Greater Chennai Corporation and Chennai Smart City Limited. The visit aimed to explore urban infrastructure development efforts that aspire to make Chennai a modern, safe, and sustainable city. The delegation also exchanged views on the role of startups in contributing to community and urban development.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Startup Tamil Nadu, a key agency supporting the startup ecosystem in the state. Discussions focused on potential collaboration to promote startup development between Thailand and India, with opportunities to network with emerging entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu.

This visit to Chennai is part of a broader program jointly organized by Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Innovation Agency (NIA), aimed at connecting Thai startups with high-potential economic and tech states in India. The delegation’s mission includes visits to Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Bangalore (Karnataka) during 15–20 September 2025.
